Diablo Immortal: The Ultimate Data Download and Installation Tutorial
According to data collated by Mobilegamer.biz, "Diablo Immortal" has been downloaded by a staggering number of gamers. Specifically, The data taken from Appmagic figures suggest that only 30 days after the game's release, "Diablo Immortal" was downloaded over 10 million times. To put this into perspective, Blizzard's previous "Diablo" title, Diablo 3," didn't even sell 10 million copies in its first month, according to Blizzard's financial reports. Of course, "Diablo Immortal" has the benefit of being free to play. So is "Diablo Immortal" even making money from all of these downloads?
As of this week, you may notice that the Diablo III game launcher and Battle.net desktop app will begin downloading data for a "future patch." This download is in preparation for the March 25 launch of Reaper of Souls, as well as a pre-expansion patch that will be released in the coming months.

The download will be around 6GB in size and include things like models, textures, art files, and other upcoming content in patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls that is already complete. By making this data available early, you'll have less to download once the pre-expansion patch and expansion are released.
The background download data is encrypted and won't make any changes to the live game or Battle.net service until patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls launch. In the meantime, you will be able play Diablo III as normal, and your in-game experience should remain unaffected by the download itself.
If you're using the standard Diablo III game launcher, the background download will continue to pick up data so long as the game launcher is running. You can always check the progress of your download by clicking the Info button at the top of the launcher, then selecting Connection Information from the drop-down menu. If you wish to complete the update at a later time, simply click the Play button at any point to pause the background download and run Diablo III, or simply close the launcher.
Still, it's worth noting that downloads do not reflect the number of active players, and the company has not yet publicly disclosed the revenue the game has generated since its launch. However, judging by the data from AppMagic, the title has already earned $77.6 million and reached 13.2 million downloads across Android and iOS.
The download file lists all files stored in the data archives. The client uses this to download files ahead of time, without it, the client will download on demand which can lead to issues. The download priority is set inside the entries with 0 being the highest and 2 the lowest however, if the game is running, missing assets in the player's vicinity take precedence.
On Android, Diablo Immortal starts out by taking up 2 GB of storage at launch. However, after you start the game, you will need to download other areas of the game totaling about an extra 10 GB of data as you play. As of this writing, we are unsure if the iOS version differs at all in its install size and will update this article if that is the case.
